Patient Service Representative (Oncology)

Location: Elgin, Illinois, United States; onsite

Salary: $18–$20 per hour

Provides community-based oncology care, advanced cancer treatments, clinical trials, and patient services across multiple locations in the Chicago area.

What you will do

• Answer patient calls, assess needs, document messages, redirect inquiries, and schedule appointments.
• Coordinate infusion-room appointments and new treatments with nurses, physician assistants, supervisors, and clinical staff.
• Maintain accurate insurance, demographic, eligibility, and appointment information in the system.
• Submit electronic tasks for service pre-authorizations and referrals, and complete physician-directed order entry.
• Provide appointment details and compassionate customer service to patients and families.
• Monitor, index, scan, and send faxes while providing coverage for colleagues when needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum one year of medical office experience is highly desired.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to use computer systems and Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Strict confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
• Required e-learning courses must be completed within 90 days of starting the position.

Nice to have

• Experience with electronic medical records.
