Power Electronics Engineer (Space)

Location: Los Angeles, CA, United States; on-site

Salary: $130,000–$180,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Design, analyze, and test DC-DC power converters for space applications.
• Own the design, manufacture, and testing of power circuitry for highly integrated PCBAs.
• Perform electrical power system and subsystem design trades and develop requirements.
• Define and execute electrical power system verification testing and analysis.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, FPGA, and production engineers from initial design through vehicle integration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or another STEM discipline.
• 3+ years of professional experience designing power circuitry.
• Experience with schematic capture and layout in Altium Designer or a similar tool.
• Experience modeling, simulating, and testing power electronics.
• Experience designing and debugging power converters.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the authorizations required under U.S. space technology export regulations, including ITAR.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Experience with FMEA, complex power-tree sequencing, impedance and loop-gain measurements.
• Experience with voltage-mode and current-mode control and compensation design.
• Strong knowledge of DC-DC topologies, including push-pull, buck, boost, buck-boost, forward, half-bridge, full-bridge, LLC resonant, and phase-shifted full-bridge converters.
• Familiarity with spacecraft electrical power systems.
