TL;DR
Principal Controls Engineer (Medtech): Developing and implementing controls, equipment, and manufacturing solutions for life-saving healthcare products with an accent on PLCs, robotics, validation, and regulatory compliance. Focus on leading sophisticated equipment projects, troubleshooting and improving manufacturing systems, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.

Location: Marion, North Carolina, United States; onsite manufacturing environment. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available.

Base salary: $112,000–$154,000 annually, with potential discretionary bonuses.

What you will do

  • Develop controls and engineering solutions for assigned manufacturing projects.
  • Lead continuous improvement, change control, NCR/CAPA investigations, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Write, implement, and report on validation protocols, testing, experiments, and data analysis.
  • Design, install, start up, troubleshoot, and optimize new equipment and systems.
  • Provide technical support, training, and subject-matter expertise to production and service teams.
  • Lead sophisticated projects, manage capital operating budgets, and coordinate internal and external multifunctional teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, AB500, safety PLCs, Allen-Bradley HMI, and servo control systems.
  • Experience with Fanuc, Yaskawa, or Staubli robotics and Cognex or Keyence vision systems.
  • Hands-on electrical diagnostics, Category 3 safety systems, E-Plan P8, AutoCAD, and electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networks, RS-232, Profibus, Fieldbus, HSSB, drives, motion control, encoders, hydraulics, pneumatics, Lean Manufacturing, and validation protocols.

  • Hands-on mechanical abilities.
