Associate Transportation Planner

Salary: $117,600–$176,400 annually

What you will do

• Lead strategic and citywide transportation planning projects, managing budgets, schedules, and QA/QC processes.
• Lead interdisciplinary teams and develop technical reports, presentations, tools, procedures, and analyses.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships and support planning, policy, design, and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Lead proposals, business development initiatives, market intelligence, and regional planning strategy.
• Represent the firm through thought leadership at conferences, professional organizations, and social media.
• Mentor planning staff, support workload planning, and potentially supervise a team of 2–4 employees.

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of transportation planning experience, including at least 5 years in a consulting firm or similar organization.
• Degree in urban planning, urban design, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex transportation planning or design projects, including staff, budgets, and clients.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with knowledge of current and emerging industry best practices.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, Power BI, or other relevant industry software.
• Occasional travel to client sites is required.

Nice to have

• AICP certification.
• Professional involvement with organizations such as NACTO, APA, ITE, or TRB.
• Experience in marketing, networking, and business development.
• Familiarity with MUTCD, NACTO, AASHTO, and other transportation guidelines.
