TL;DR
Electro-Optical Engineer (Aerospace): Owning satellite sensor products from clean-sheet architecture through qualification, production, and field deployment with an accent on system design, verification, test engineering, and hardware ownership. Focus on leading qualification campaigns, performing trade studies and root cause analyses, and developing integrated sensor solutions with multidisciplinary aerospace teams.

Location: Los Angeles, United States; in-person collaboration at the Playa Vista office.

Salary: $90,000–$120,000 annual base salary, plus equity.

hirify.global manufactures satellite buses at scale using software, vertical integration, and hardware designed for manufacturing, supporting applications such as Earth observation and communications.

What you will do

  • Own sensor products across conceptualization, architecture, design, analysis, prototyping, qualification, production, and field deployment.
  • Act as the hardware Responsible Engineering Authority, providing technical solutions, guidance, and documentation for production issues.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and tasking within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Lead sensor verification and validation, including test plans, procedures, reports, test stations, and ground support equipment.
  • Perform system- and component-level trade studies to balance performance, cost, schedule, and technical risk.
  • Conduct failure investigations and root cause analyses, incorporating lessons learned into future designs and test approaches.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, systems, electrical, mechanical, computer, or software engineering, applied physics, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience developing, prototyping, integrating, and/or testing multidisciplinary systems.
  • Demonstrated hardware, project, or product ownership experience.
  • Strong understanding of test engineering fundamentals and methodologies.
  • Leadership, time management, organizational skills, and the ability to create clean-sheet subsystem architectures.
  • Ability to work in person at the Playa Vista office in Los Angeles.

Nice to have

  • 1–2 years of experience in aerospace, automotive, or other technical product development or testing.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or applied physics discipline.
  • Experience developing, designing, implementing, or testing sensor systems.
  • Familiarity with DFM/DFMA, satellite systems, space environments, hardware product lifecycles, and project management techniques.
