Principal Component Engineer I (Aerospace): Leading EEE parts selection, qualification, performance verification, and failure root-cause analysis for satellite, spacecraft, and aerospace communication systems with an accent on high-reliability component engineering, supplier evaluation, and space-program compliance. Focus on developing parts plans, analyzing screening and test data, mitigating obsolescence and component risks, and supporting product upgrades for high-volume satellite constellations.

Location: On-site in Westminster, Colorado, United States. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Salary: $142,000–$189,500 per year

What you will do

  • Lead high-reliability EEE parts selection, standardization, qualification, screening, derating, and performance verification.
  • Define customer testing and qualification requirements and provide component expertise across aerospace programs.
  • Develop state-of-the-art component roadmaps and product upgrade strategies with engineering teams.
  • Author parts plans, process definition documents, NSPARs, and Source Control Drawings.
  • Review manufacturer and laboratory screening data, ECOs, procurement documents, and test-control requirements.
  • Support risk mitigation, failure analysis, cost analysis, obsolescence mitigation, supplier audits, and design reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience as a component engineer.
  • Experience selecting, qualifying, screening, and derating components for military and aerospace applications.
  • Experience developing parts plans for high-volume satellite constellations and evaluating screening and qualification requirements.
  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management systems, including new part requests, part objects, and part attributes.
  • Strong communication, independent working, urgency, and ability to support or lead different functions.

Nice to have

  • Technical leadership experience mentoring junior component engineers and educating designers.
  • Experience with failure analysis, reliability analyses such as prediction, derating, FMECA, and WCA.
  • Knowledge of radiation effects including TID and SEE, tin whisker mitigation, and EEE component manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with ground or air applications, RF devices, and FPGAs.
