TL;DR
TPS Technician I, First Shift (Aerospace Manufacturing) (Thermal Protection Systems): Manufacturing and assembling thermal protection system components and subassemblies for the reusable Terran R rocket with an accent on adhesive bonding, surface preparation, adhesive application, and vacuum bagging. Focus on following engineering drawings and manufacturing procedures, documenting production in MES software, and troubleshooting routine production issues while maintaining safety and quality.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite, first shift, Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM–3:30 PM PT. The role has a baseline expectation of a 50-hour workweek and may include occasional overtime.

Salary: $22.80–$34.20 USD per hour.

What you will do

  • Manufacture thermal protection system components and subassemblies for Terran R.
  • Perform adhesive bonding operations, including surface preparation, adhesive mixing and application, and vacuum bagging.
  • Follow engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and manufacturing procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Operate hand tools, pneumatic tools, calibrated equipment, and Manufacturing Execution System software.
  • Collaborate with engineers, quality inspectors, supervisors, and technicians to troubleshoot production issues and improve processes.
  • Support downstream manufacturing operations while maintaining safety, quality, and shop organization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 0–1 years of experience in aerospace, automotive, composites, fabrication, assembly, or another related hands-on field.
  • Basic experience using hand tools, power tools, or production equipment in a manufacturing or shop environment.
  • Ability to follow written instructions, drawings, specifications, and established manufacturing processes.
  • Strong attention to detail, safety, quality, documentation, and effective communication.
  • Willingness to learn adhesive bonding, surface preparation, vacuum bagging, and flight-hardware assembly.
