Strategic Sourcing Manager (Aerospace)

Location: Seattle, Washington; on-site

Salary: $130,000–$200,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular employees.

What you will do

• Lead strategic sourcing and procurement for critical mechanical commodities, including airframe structures, precision-machined components, landing gear, engines, propulsion hardware, and complex assemblies.
• Develop commodity strategies supporting prototype, qualification, development, and production programs.
• Own supplier selection, qualification, onboarding, long-term management, and performance recovery for mission-critical suppliers.
• Lead RFQs, proposal evaluations, cost modeling, negotiations, source selections, and contract execution.
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Planning, Program Management, Finance, Contracts, and Legal on technical, commercial, and supply chain issues.
• Support product introduction and production ramp-up by managing supplier readiness, material availability, tooling capacity, qualifications, and supply risk mitigation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 7+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supplier management, or supply chain management within aerospace, defense, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
• Experience sourcing aerospace or complex mechanical commodities such as structural assemblies, machined components, landing gear, engines, propulsion systems, castings, forgings, or special-process components.
• Strong knowledge of CNC machining, structural and composite manufacturing, casting, forging, welding, heat treatment, plating, coating, finishing, and mechanical assembly.
• Experience with supplier negotiations, cost and price analysis, proposal evaluation, source selection, product development, qualification, production ramp-up, and performance recovery.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance and travel to supplier facilities and company locations as required.

Nice to have

• Active U.S. government SECRET clearance at the time of hire.
• Experience with aircraft, unmanned aircraft systems, flight-critical hardware, sole-source or long-lead suppliers, and prototype-to-production programs.
• Familiarity with FAR, DFARS, ITAR, export compliance, and government contracting requirements.
• APICS/ASCM, CPSM, CPSD, PMP, or another relevant professional certification.
