Senior Backend Programmer (Python): Building and maintaining advanced backend services and operational systems that support production teams across the studio with an accent on scalable architecture, AWS infrastructure, and service reliability. Focus on designing REST and WebSocket services, optimizing server performance, strengthening CI/CD pipelines, and modeling relational and NoSQL data.

Location: Montreal, QC, Canada; hybrid workplace

What you will do

  • Design, build, and maintain advanced backend services and operational systems.
  • Define technical specifications and requirements for new features and services.
  • Diagnose issues and improve application stability, code quality, and CI/CD pipeline robustness.
  • Collaborate with developers to deliver scalable, production-grade services.
  • Develop, execute, and analyze functional tests for performance and reliability.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of backend development experience with Python.
  • Hands-on expertise with AWS, including Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, and CloudWatch.
  • Strong knowledge of REST APIs, WebSockets, and modern software architecture principles.
  • Experience with Linux, server performance optimization, and secure client-server development.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab Pipelines, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or CDK, plus relational and NoSQL databases.
