What you will do
- Monitor federal, state, provincial, regional, and local legislative, regulatory, and policy developments affecting data center development and operations.
- Research energy markets, utility regulation, infrastructure, renewable energy, grid reliability, transmission, and sustainability issues.
- Prepare policy position papers, briefing materials, presentations, comments, testimony, talking points, reports, and stakeholder communications.
- Support advocacy initiatives and engagement with policymakers, regulators, utilities, industry associations, coalitions, consultants, and other stakeholders.
- Evaluate regulatory risks and opportunities related to development projects, utility initiatives, and energy procurement activities.
- Collaborate with Land Strategy, Power & Energy, Market Intelligence, Development, Legal, Sustainability, and other internal teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, law, energy management, economics, environmental policy, business, engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in energy policy, regulatory affairs, government affairs, public affairs, utility regulation, energy markets, or a related field.
- Experience working with or for utilities, regulators, government agencies, energy companies, trade associations, consulting firms, or related organizations.
- Working knowledge of energy markets, utility regulation, energy infrastructure, renewable energy policy, and regulatory processes.
- Strong research, analytical, problem-solving, written, verbal, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel as business needs require and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Nice to have
- Experience supporting regulatory proceedings, legislative initiatives, or energy policy advocacy.
- Knowledge of wholesale energy markets, transmission policy, electric utility regulation, renewable energy policy, or energy procurement programs.
- Familiarity with data centers, digital infrastructure, large commercial and industrial energy users, or infrastructure development.
- Experience working with utility commissions, RTOs, ISOs, legislative bodies, or trade associations.
- Master’s degree, Juris Doctor, or another relevant advanced degree.
