Journeyman Systems Engineer (LCAP Governance Assistant)

What you will do

• Support SaaS governance for low-code application platforms used by the U.S. Coast Guard Software Yard.
• Help define policies, standards, and lifecycle processes covering SaaS intake, approval, implementation, renewal, and retirement.
• Establish and maintain a centralized SaaS Catalog with application owners, business intent, data classification, and risk profiles.
• Lead security, compliance, legal, and operational evaluations for new SaaS requests.
• Track cybersecurity requests and Authority to Operate artifacts with ISSOs and ISSEs.
• Define access-control and audit processes, track system costs, and monitor user statistics and capacity.

Requirements

• High school education with 6–9 years of experience, or commensurate experience; at least 8 years in IT-related roles.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification, such as Security+ CE, CySA+, or CCNA Security.
• At least 1 year of experience working with Jira.
• Ability to work autonomously, take initiative, collaborate across technical and leadership groups, and apply strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
• Public Trust clearance required.

Nice to have

• LCAP or SaaS experience in the federal government.
• Familiarity with USCG Software Yard pipelines, Capability Development Division benchmarks, or shared data systems.
