Principal Product Designer (Transit Operations)

Location: New York City, United States

Base salary: $200,000–$230,000 per year, excluding equity or variable pay where applicable.

What you will do

• Lead design for strategic areas of the Transit Operations platform across interconnected workflows.
• Translate operational workflows, business requirements, and technical constraints into clear, scalable experiences.
• Carry product concepts from early exploration through detailed, production-ready design.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to frame problems, evaluate options, and drive product decisions.
• Use research, data, experimentation, and customer feedback to validate and improve the product.
• Establish design patterns, raise quality across Transit Operations, and influence the broader Design organization, including through everyday use of AI.

Requirements

• Extensive experience designing and shipping complex digital products and platforms, supported by a strong portfolio.
• Experience leading complex product initiatives end to end and navigating ambiguous problem spaces.
• Exceptional craft with deep attention to interaction, hierarchy, behavior, and product details.
• Strong communication, storytelling, collaboration, and stakeholder-influence skills.
• High autonomy, ownership, product judgment, creativity, and curiosity about emerging technologies.
• Passion for improving transportation and mobility for communities.
