Staff Network Engineer, App Platform

What you will do

• Own network architecture and standards for Scale GP across AWS, Azure, GCP, and customer-controlled cloud deployments.
• Design and review VPCs, peering, DNS, load balancing, CDN/edge configurations, VPNs, routing, ingress, egress, and traffic flows.
• Define standard connectivity between Scale’s control plane and customer data planes using patterns such as VPC peering, PrivateLink, Private Service Connect, site-to-site VPN, and reverse tunnels.
• Establish customer-boundary delivery patterns for code, images, traffic, CI/CD mirroring, artifact scanning, private registries, and ingress.
• Own engineer access models and the Kubernetes traffic layer, including Istio/Envoy, cloud CNIs, NetworkPolicy, and egress controls for agent-sandbox pods running untrusted code.
• Partner with security engineering, debug hybrid and multi-cloud incidents, and document standards and operational runbooks.

Requirements

• 5+ years of network engineering experience designing and operating production cloud networks.
• Deep expertise in at least two of AWS, Azure, and GCP, including VPC design, peering, hub-and-spoke topologies, private connectivity, and DNS.
• Strong Kubernetes networking experience with CNI, ingress, NetworkPolicy, Istio or Envoy, plus TCP/IP, BGP, routing, firewalls, VPN, and TLS.
• Experience with edge/CDN and traffic-management platforms such as Cloudflare.
• Experience defining and enforcing network standards through design reviews and making build-versus-adopt networking decisions.
• Infrastructure-as-code proficiency, preferably Terraform, with strong communication and cross-functional influence skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with network security and compliance in healthcare, finance, government, FedRAMP/GovCloud, or air-gapped environments.
