Electrical Test Technician

What you will do

• Perform system, product, subassembly, low-voltage, and medium-voltage electrical tests up to 10 kV.
• Interpret schematics and drawings, troubleshoot failures, document results, and complete minor repairs within standard work and takt time.
• Use testing methods and equipment including Doble, Hipot, resistance, DGA, and CT testing.
• Develop or co-develop test procedures and troubleshooting guides for technicians and testers.
• Program product systems for testing and identify preventive maintenance opportunities for test equipment.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, and other teams on quality, process improvement, continuous improvement, and NPI initiatives.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Power, High Voltage, Electrical Engineering, Utilities Engineering, Electromagnetic Engineering, or an equivalent field, or two years of transformer factory acceptance testing or field commissioning testing experience.
• Two years of product testing experience in a manufacturing environment.
• NFP70E Medium Voltage certification and NEC training must be completed within 30 days of starting and before beginning electrical work.
• Ability to read schematics and drawings, troubleshoot problems, perform basic math and manufacturing assembly tasks, and use a PC at an intermediate level.
• Ability to work effectively in a team, communicate clearly, and train other employees.
• Ability to stand and walk regularly, manipulate controls, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Nice to have

• Industrial Journeyman or Master Electrician certification.
• Intermediate mechanical testing knowledge and experience diagnosing failure mechanisms.
• Root cause problem-solving experience using 5 Why, 8D, or PDCA.
• Experience training employees on work instructions and standard work.
• Experience with SAP or an equivalent ERP system such as Oracle, JD Edwards, or Microsoft Dynamics.
