Primary Equipment Technician (High Voltage)

Location: Plymouth, Michigan, United States; field travel to customer sites up to 80%.

Salary: $100,000–$160,000 per year

What you will do

• Commission and test breakers, transformers, switches, CTs, PTs, and other power system apparatus.
• Operate Doble, Megger, Vanguard, and Omicron test equipment for validation, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
• Perform functional and operational testing on high-voltage equipment rated from 480V to 765kV.
• Verify wiring and schematics to confirm correct installation and system integrity.
• Work with customers, engineers, and internal teams to deliver commissioning projects.
• Document test data and support equipment integration activities.

Requirements

• 3–10 years of experience in apparatus testing or commissioning.
• Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
• Hands-on experience with equipment rated from 480V to 765kV.
• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related discipline.
• Ability to work outdoors, at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites up to 80%.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Doble, Megger, Vanguard, and Omicron test systems.
• OSHA, NETA, or NICET certification, or progress toward certification.
