Director, Private Markets Accounting

Location: Union, New Jersey, United States (Hybrid)

Salary: $115,000–$210,000 USD base salary annually, plus potential discretionary bonus and/or equity awards.

What you will do

• Lead teams delivering fund administration services for private markets clients.
• Act as the primary liaison for a book of business and collaborate with auditors, law firms, tax advisors, and other external parties.
• Review governing, offering, subscription, and investment management documents to apply fund terms accurately.
• Review transaction documentation, work papers, capital activity, investment activity, accruals, valuation adjustments, fee calculations, and investor allocations.
• Review capital calls, distributions, cash sources and uses, investor notices, and carried-interest distribution waterfall models.
• Manage year-end audits, improve operational processes, support onboarding and implementations, and contribute to RFPs, presentations, and client business analysis.

Requirements

• 10+ years of private equity or real assets fund accounting experience.
• 3+ years supervising, training, delegating tasks, and managing large teams.
• Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and other comprehensive bases of accounting, particularly investment partnerships.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Strong client relationship management, communication, organization, leadership, and project management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills.

Nice to have

• CPA designation and/or MBA.
• Experience making hiring and termination decisions and providing ongoing performance feedback.
