Systems Design Engineer (Physical Security)

Location: Sierra Vista, AZ, USA; remote work is available, with frequent travel of up to 70% for site surveys and installation activities.

Salary: $80,000–$90,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design and develop physical security systems, including surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, and specialized systems.
• Conduct site surveys, determine equipment placement, select technologies, and produce site reports, bills of materials, cost models, and system drawings.
• Coordinate with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and installation teams to validate requirements and support deployment.
• Participate in installation, troubleshooting, system integration, calibration, and performance validation.
• Create installation statements of work, test plans, verification documentation, and final system acceptance materials.
• Support quality assurance, maintenance, administration, bid and proposal activities, and small technical working groups.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate U.S. government security clearance and possess or obtain a valid U.S. passport.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience may substitute.
• At least four years of broad technical experience with physical security, electronic, networked, or integrated systems.
• Experience with system design documentation, technical writing, site design, Visio, and AutoCAD.
• Ability to travel frequently and perform installation and verification work at heights, outdoors, and while lifting equipment and using hand and power tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with network infrastructure, system configuration, test instruments, and field installation practices.
• Certifications in security systems, networking, or enterprise technologies.
