Senior Telecommunications Consultant

Location: Hybrid in Boulder, Chicago, Dallas, Hartford or Boston, or San Diego, United States; fully remote positions may be available based on qualifications. Travel: approximately 10%.

Base salary: $90,000–$120,000 USD per year, plus performance-based bonuses.

What you will do

• Lead the design and documentation of telecommunications infrastructure for new construction and renovation projects.
• Gather business, operational, and technical requirements from clients, IT departments, owners, architects, engineers, and contractors.
• Design structured cabling, fiber optic and copper networks, telecommunications rooms, data centers, pathways, campus infrastructure, wireless systems, and DAS pathways.
• Prepare drawings, specifications, narratives, room layouts, riser diagrams, budgets, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary project delivery, review contractor submittals and RFIs, and participate in site assessments, construction administration, field observations, and punch lists.
• Manage concurrent projects, provide mentorship, and support client presentations, proposals, interviews, and business development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• 8–15 years of experience in telecommunications consulting, structured cabling design, ICT consulting, or a related AEC field.
• Demonstrated experience with structured cabling, fiber optic networks, copper distribution, telecommunications spaces, campus infrastructure, and pathway and raceway systems.
• Knowledge of ANSI/TIA standards, BICSI best practices, NEC telecommunications requirements, and telecommunications space planning guidelines.
• Experience developing construction documents, specifications, and project cost estimates.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit, along with strong communication, organization, project management, and client relationship skills.

Nice to have

• BICSI RCDD certification or additional BICSI credentials such as OSP, RTPM, DCDC, or TECH.
• Professional Engineer license.
• Experience with data center design, smart building infrastructure, wireless systems, DAS, edge computing, and connected building technologies.
