Sr Director, Project Management - Manufacturing Transformation

Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States; travel across manufacturing sites required 60% of the time

What you will do

• Own the multi-site manufacturing transformation roadmap and translate enterprise strategy into a structured portfolio of programs and projects.
• Build and lead the manufacturing project management function and PMO, including methodologies, governance, reporting, and organizational maturity.
• Partner with plant, operations, engineering, supply chain, and finance leaders to prioritize initiatives such as lean improvement, automation, facility consolidation, ERP rollouts, and capacity expansion.
• Lead cross-functional teams and manage scope, budgets, timelines, risks, dependencies, business cases, and realized benefits.
• Establish KPIs covering cost savings, throughput, quality, on-time delivery, and safety, and report progress to executive leadership.
• Drive site-level change management and advise senior operations leadership on transformation strategy, sequencing, and resourcing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, business, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations, project or program management, or operational excellence, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
• Required experience with site consolidations and greenfield and/or brownfield start-ups.
• Experience leading large-scale manufacturing transformation, operational excellence, or PMO-building initiatives in a multi-site environment.
• Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or comparable continuous improvement methodologies, with strong analytical, communication, and change-management skills.
• Experience managing multi-million-dollar program budgets and influencing senior stakeholders without direct authority.

Nice to have

• MBA or advanced degree.
• PMP or equivalent project management certification.
• Experience in regulated or precision manufacturing, including optics, photonics, aerospace and defense, or medical devices.
