Cybersecurity Lead Engineer/Architect (AI)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; onsite/hybrid attendance is required on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Annual base salary: $175,000–$225,000 USD, plus potential discretionary bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, implement, harden, and continuously improve security controls across endpoints, networks, cloud platforms, identity, and the SDLC.
• Lead security projects from scoping and planning through execution, documentation, stakeholder communication, and roadmap ownership.
• Own and optimize application security, AI security, endpoint protection, IDS/IPS, SIEM, vulnerability management, and cloud security tooling.
• Build automation for threat detection, alerting, incident response workflows, ticket creation, and security reporting.
• Partner with infrastructure, software engineering, product, and service desk teams to embed secure-by-design, hardening, DevSecOps, and threat-modeling practices.
• Lead the AI security program, monitor compliance, support incident response escalations, and recommend strategic improvements based on emerging threats.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of progressive cybersecurity or information security engineering experience, including lead, principal, or security architect responsibilities.
• Hands-on experience engineering enterprise security controls, managing technical security projects, and designing security and reference architectures.
• Experience securing and monitoring cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, with knowledge of DLP, MFA, encryption, intrusion detection, and device/application management.
• Strong scripting and automation skills with PowerShell, Python, or similar technologies, plus experience with centralized logging and SIEM solutions.
• Experience securing AI/ML systems and enterprise AI adoption, including prompt injection, data leakage, model abuse, the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, and the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications.

Nice to have

• Experience in financial services or investment management.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC, or AWS Security.
• Software engineering experience.
