TL;DR
Chemical Technician II (Chemical Processing): Producing high-quality reagents for global use and handling regulated chemical waste with an accent on chemical manufacturing, ERP-based material control, and safety compliance. Focus on dispensing and adjusting chemicals, troubleshooting quality and delivery issues, interpreting scale and BCMS data, and participating in hazardous material spill response.

Location: Coralville, Iowa, United States; on-site. Schedule: Thursday–Sunday, 4:00pm–3:00am, with shift differential.

What you will do

  • Produce high-quality reagents for worldwide use and handle regulated chemical waste.
  • Use the ERP system to monitor inventory, create and schedule work orders, transfer materials, and decrement inventory.
  • Change and dispense production materials while following chemical manufacturing, storage, and transportation procedures.
  • Gather, interpret, and analyze scale-readout and BCMS-script data.
  • Troubleshoot quality and delivery issues and participate in the Hazardous Material Spill Response Team.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a STEM field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications, including HAZWOPER 24-hour Technician, RCRA awareness, and Powered Industrial Truck Operator certification.
  • Medical clearance, respirator testing, fit testing, and continued compliance with the IDT Respiratory Program are conditions of employment.
  • Ability to exert 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 50 pounds frequently.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Experience making decisions while mixing bulk chemicals and troubleshooting equipment independently.
  • Knowledge of basic chemistry, mathematics, and unit conversions for in-process adjustments.
