TL;DR
Software Engineer, Simulation (C++/Python): Developing and maintaining the simulation system used to evaluate and improve end-to-end autonomous driving intelligence with an accent on realistic, reproducible, and scalable evaluation. Focus on integrating driving-stack and vehicle-platform components, investigating simulated versus on-road behaviour, and improving performance, reliability, observability, and developer tooling.

Location: London, United Kingdom; full-time hybrid role based in the London office

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain production-quality simulation components using modern C++ and Python.
  • Integrate driving-stack components, simulated robot systems, and vehicle-platform capabilities into a shared simulation environment.
  • Support open-loop and closed-loop simulation configurations and ensure correct component interactions.
  • Investigate differences between on-road and simulated execution across data, inference, and simulated components.
  • Improve reproducibility, reliability, debuggability, observability, automated testing, and developer tooling.
  • Profile simulator performance and collaborate with Simulation, Robotics, Autonomy, Evaluation, Platform, and Data teams on scoped improvements.

Requirements

  • Professional experience delivering and maintaining production software in a collaborative engineering environment.
  • Strong software development skills in C++ and Python, with depth in at least one language and effective use of both.
  • Experience with simulation, robotics, autonomous systems, or similarly complex systems with interacting software components.
  • Knowledge of software and data-oriented design, maintainable and extensible code, interfaces, data flows, timing, and failure modes.
  • Ability to debug complex systems, make pragmatic performance trade-offs, independently deliver scoped features, and communicate risks clearly.
  • Experience using GenAI development tools while reviewing, testing, and validating their output.

Nice to have

  • Experience with autonomous vehicles, robotics, or vehicle and robot dynamics simulation.
  • Experience with middleware and complex system integration.
  • Experience with camera, radar, lidar, or GNSS sensor data, including uncertainty or noise modelling.
  • Experience integrating machine-learning inference into production systems.
  • Experience with performance profiling, observability, distributed systems, large-scale batch processing, cloud infrastructure, or GPU workloads.
