Location: On-site in Broomfield, Colorado, United States; occasional travel of up to 10% may be expected. U.S. Person status is required due to contractual requirements, and candidates must not be nationals of the People's Republic of China or Russia unless they are also U.S. citizens.
Salary: $132,000–$152,000 annually.

What you will do
- Design, build, and maintain software that automates quantum laboratory processes and coordinates lab instruments, control systems, and data pipelines.
- Collaborate with physicists and hardware engineers to develop software tools for laboratory workflows.
- Build internal tools and dashboards for equipment status, system health, experimental run logging, and real-time lab activity monitoring.
- Improve observability, error reporting, debugging, and operational uptime across the software stack.
- Deploy, maintain, troubleshoot, and support laboratory software throughout its lifecycle.
- Improve CI/CD workflows, automated testing, build processes, and software development practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher.
- At least 4 years of graduate and/or industry experience developing software in a laboratory or research environment.
- At least 2 years of experience with Python, C++, or a similar object-oriented programming language.
- At least 1 year of experience developing software that communicates with physical hardware through device interfaces, control protocols, or instrumentation libraries.
- U.S. Person status is required.
Nice to have
- Master's or PhD in Computer Science or a field related to quantum computing.
- Experience with experiment automation frameworks, lab control systems, hardware-in-the-loop testing, or real-time systems.
- Experience with Docker, containerized environments, Linux, and Windows.
- Knowledge of instrumentation APIs, messaging systems, serial, GPIB, or TCP/IP device protocols.
- Experience automating laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, waveform generators, motorized stages, and data acquisition systems.
