Senior Counsel, Intellectual Property

Location: Bentonville, Arkansas, United States; onsite at the Walmart Home Office

Annual salary: $130,000–$260,000, plus performance-based bonuses and, for certain positions, stock.

What you will do

• Provide strategic legal guidance on patent law, patentable subject matter, inventions, and open source software issues.
• Develop patent and intellectual property strategies aligned with product roadmaps and business priorities.
• Review open source software requests and support compliance efforts with technologists, engineers, and other functions.
• Manage internal client and external counsel relationships to address legal issues and mitigate risks.
• Promote ethical standards and integrate legal insights into business decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Law degree from an accredited law school and at least five years of legal experience.
• License to practice law in at least one state.
• Registered USPTO patent attorney.
• Extensive experience with patentable subject matter, inventions, and open source software governance.
• Expertise in regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, policy analysis, legal research, and complex business matters.
