Design Engineer (Power Grids)

Location: Wrexham, United Kingdom; onsite at the Wrexham plant

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and qualify energy cables for the Power Grids business.
• Manage design, development, and qualification processes through the Accolade project management system.
• Support customer enquiries and contracts with technical input.
• Manage product design changes, cost-reduction initiatives, alternative material approvals, and raw material specifications.
• Plan and execute R&D and product-qualification sample testing.
• Evaluate sustainable materials and alternative suppliers, coordinate new projects, and support external product and process audits.

Requirements

• Degree-level education or equivalent in a relevant engineering subject is preferred.
• Strong numeracy, accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently on projects and collaboratively within a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to work at the Wrexham plant.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of materials and cable manufacturing processes.
• Experience with SAP.
