Electrical Design Engineer

What you will do

• Develop conceptual electrical designs into fully engineered solutions meeting contractual, technical, and regulatory requirements.
• Produce specifications, calculations, equipment selections, and detailed design documentation for gas generation, CHP, BESS, hydrogen, solar, wind, and microgrid systems.
• Perform load-flow, fault, protection, harmonic, voltage-flicker, and G99 power system studies.
• Support projects from tender design through installation, commissioning, and testing, working closely with Project Managers.
• Coordinate with Mechanical Design Engineers, CAD technicians, and wider project teams; contribute to HAZOPs and risk assessments.
• Ensure designs meet health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, or HNC/HND with substantial relevant experience.
• Experience in power generation or a closely related industry, typically involving 1–25 MW systems.
• Knowledge of LV and MV electrical systems, power trains, and associated control and instrumentation.
• Experience with power system analysis software and AutoCAD or similar tools.
• Proactive, dependable, collaborative approach and clear communication with technical and non-technical colleagues.

Nice to have

• Professional registration.
• CHP or HV substation experience.
• ETAP knowledge and familiarity with NERS.
