Early Stage Innovation R&D Co-Op (MedTech)

Location: Hybrid role in Raritan, New Jersey, United States. The co-op term runs from January to July 2027 and requires 40 hours per week.

Salary: $23.50–$52.50 per hour, depending on program year, discipline, degree, and experience.

Johnson & Johnson MedTech develops healthcare products and surgical technologies, including sutures, hemostasis products, surgical staplers, trocars, energy devices, and synthetic mesh devices.

What you will do

• Perform hands-on laboratory work in an engineering lab.
• Craft and evaluate prototypes for wound closure and healing applications.
• Conduct studies and develop test methods and fixtures.
• Attend and participate in voice-of-customer laboratories.
• Collaborate with engineers and external suppliers on project activities.
• Write test protocols, prepare final reports, and document meeting minutes.

Requirements

• Completion of the undergraduate freshman year and enrollment at an accredited college or university during the co-op session.
• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical, Robotics, Electrical, Chemical, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks CAD for creating 3D models.
• Strong organization, communication, independent working, and teamwork skills; proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Must be permanently authorized to work in the United States and must not require employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Experience with robotic system development.
• Fundamental ability to write, debug, and maintain code.
• Leadership or participation in campus programs or community service activities.
