Health Information Specialist I-6708 (Healthcare)

Location: Portland, OR; on-site work with the ability to commute between locations as needed

What you will do

• Receive and process patient health information and medical record requests according to company and facility policies.
• Safeguard patient privacy and ensure releases comply with HIPAA and authorization requirements.
• Prepare, organize, verify, scan, and store paper and electronic patient records.
• Retrieve and transmit records to internal and external requesters through appropriate channels.
• Handle calls, faxes, mail, data entry, patient walk-ins, pick-up scheduling, and other administrative duties.
• Meet site productivity expectations and communicate changing volumes or operational difficulties to management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic computer proficiency and strong data entry skills.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, organize multiple tasks, and respond to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfort using phones, fax machines, printers, multiple software platforms, and two computer monitors.
• Ability to commute between locations as needed and work overtime during peak seasons when required.
