Senior Labour & Employee Relations Partner (Life Sciences)

Location: Can be based in Austria or Belgium; significant travel to other areas of Europe is required.

What you will do

• Provide expert labour and employee relations counsel across Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, and Poland on complex employee relations matters, labour law, disciplinary processes, grievances, performance issues, separations, and workforce-related risk.
• Advise and participate in employee representative engagement, social dialogue, information-sharing, consultation, and negotiations with works councils and unions.
• Lead labour and employee relations support for reorganizations, restructurings, transformations, organizational redesigns, and operating-model changes.
• Lead and support workplace investigations and performance management processes, including documentation, manager guidance, and risk assessment.
• Coordinate escalations with People Partners, HR Business Partners, HR Generalists, Legal, Compliance, Global Labour and Employee Relations, and other Centers of Excellence.
• Develop employee relations frameworks, policies, playbooks, templates, communications, training, and case insights to improve consistency and risk prevention.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in human resources, business administration, law, or a related field, or comparable professional experience.
• Several years of progressive experience in labour and employee relations, ideally in a matrixed international organization.
• In-depth knowledge of Austria and Belgium labour law, including works council and union procedures, plus working knowledge of Switzerland and Poland labour law.
• Experience supporting reorganizations, restructurings, transformations, labour relations, negotiations, consultation documents, and company agreements across multiple European countries.
• Ability to work autonomously and make recommendations on matters involving significant legal, employee relations, reputational, or business risk.
• Fluent English is essential; proficiency in other languages relevant to the supported countries is a major asset.

• Experience supporting European Works Councils or transnational employee representative bodies.
• Experience in regulated, manufacturing, life sciences, or other compliance-intensive environments.
• Experience developing manager training content or playbooks on labour relations and people risk.
