Senior Life Claims Analyst (Insurance)

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota; in-office collaboration required at least four days per week, with flexibility to work from home one day per week.

Base salary: $58,300–$80,100 per year, with potential variable compensation depending on the role.

What you will do

• Adjudicate life insurance claims by verifying policy status, interpreting provisions, determining claim benefits and confirming appropriate payees.
• Handle complex beneficiary designations, foreign death claim investigations, and payments involving trusts, estates and minor beneficiaries.
• Review claim documents, maintain accurate claim files and request outstanding requirements.
• Communicate claim status and information needs to clients and advisors while coordinating handoffs with internal business partners.
• Identify claim risks and red flags by applying insurance contracts, regulatory requirements, fair claim handling standards and legal considerations.
• Provide secondary reviews and approvals, give peer feedback and contribute subject-matter expertise to process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent; relevant post-secondary education and work experience may be combined.
• 3–5 years of life claims experience.
• Understanding of life insurance contracts and their relationship to claim benefits.
• Strong critical thinking, judgment, organization, prioritization and documentation skills.
• Professional written correspondence and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
