Family-owned media company operating My UP News, an ABC affiliate serving the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

What you will do

• Rewrite releases from law enforcement, government agencies, nonprofits, and other organizations.
• Research stories to add context, perspective, and additional information.
• Review and improve locally produced content with the news department.
• Create content for web, social media, app, streaming, and on-air platforms.
• Develop digital workflows, strategies, and ideas while training colleagues on best practices.
• Experiment with new technologies and tools, troubleshoot technical and production issues, and use audience analytics to improve content.

Requirements

• Experience in journalism and a strong understanding of digital media.
• Experience writing for print using AP style.
• Strong knowledge of journalism ethics and professional journalism principles.
• Experience producing web video and audio with desktop video software.
• A BA/BS in journalism or a related field and online publishing or communications experience are preferred.
