What you will do
- Manage the digital team and update the local website with timely news and high-performing content.
- Monitor print, television, digital, blog, and social media sources to identify breaking, exclusive, and trending stories.
- Research, interview, write, and package original news articles, including quick-hit local stories, breaking news, and enterprise reports.
- Build data-driven homepage layouts, test headlines, and use traffic metrics to improve engagement, page views per visitor, and time on site.
- Produce short videos, select effective photography, and promote news content across social media and broadcast channels.
- Collaborate with newsroom staff and management on enterprise content and audience-growth initiatives.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in digital content and journalism.
- Strong headline writing, communication, multitasking, organization, and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and AP Style.
- Strong understanding of Google Analytics; regular performance measurement is required.
- Ability to learn new technology independently and work effectively with newsroom teams.
- Availability for a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends.
Nice to have
- Chartbeat experience.
- Experience with HTML, CSS, and Photoshop.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
