What you will do

• Write, edit, and publish accurate, timely digital news content in AP style.
• Report, source, verify, and update breaking news using interviews, public agencies, social media, trusted contacts, and digital tools.
• Create compelling headlines and optimize stories for search, social performance, audience engagement, and traffic.
• Monitor analytics and audience trends to guide content decisions and maintain a balanced content mix.
• Collaborate with local newsroom staff, regional teams, and newsroom leadership on story angles and broader coverage.
• Shoot photos and video, and upload, edit, and annotate video for digital platforms and ValleyCentral+ CTV.

Requirements

• At least two years of experience creating content for digital platforms.
• Strong knowledge of AP style, grammar, journalistic standards, and accuracy requirements.
• Understanding of SEO, digital audience engagement, web performance, and social media newsgathering and promotion.
• Ability to conduct interviews, obtain information quickly from official sources, and publish multiple stories daily across varied topics.
• Ability to shoot photos and video and work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven newsroom.
• Flexible availability for nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Nice to have

• Bilingual English and Spanish skills.
• Basic to intermediate proficiency with Adobe products such as Photoshop and Express.
• Experience with CTV or streaming platforms.
