Patient Access Associate Specialist (Healthcare)

Location: On-site at Ballad - Johnson County Community Hospital in Mountain City, Tennessee; limited to individuals who reside and are authorized to work in the United States

Salary: $17.00–$18.15 per hour, based on experience

What you will do

• Register patients, assign accurate medical record numbers, collect demographic and insurance information, and process physician orders.
• Complete medical necessity and compliance checks, including Medicare screening with ABN software.
• Verify insurance eligibility, select insurance plan codes, enter benefit data, and support point-of-service collections and clean claims.
• Explain and obtain signatures for consent, Medicare, Tricare, observation, and other patient forms.
• Conduct account audits, correct documentation, and provide reporting data to Patient Access leadership.
• Operate the telephone switchboard and provide compassionate customer service to patients, guarantors, colleagues, and departments.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of customer service experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Inquisitiveness and openness to innovation, including AI, to improve processes and patient and client experiences.
• Residence in and authorization to work within the United States are required.
• CRCR certification required within 6 months of hire; certification is company-paid.
