Health Information Specialist I (Healthcare Data)

Location: Remote; performed at one location. Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. EST.

Salary: $15-$18.32 USD per hour.

What you will do

• Receive and process requests for patient health information according to company and facility policies.
• Manage, assemble, retrieve, and transmit patient medical records accurately and securely.
• Create digital images of paper documents and store them in electronic medical records.
• Answer inbound and outbound calls from patients, insurance companies, attorneys, and other requesters.
• Document information across multiple platforms and support administrative duties such as faxing, mail handling, data entry, and pickup scheduling.
• Meet site productivity expectations and report workload or operational issues to the manager.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and minimum age of 18.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Basic computer proficiency and comfort using phones, fax machines, printers, and other office equipment.
• Ability to commute between locations as needed and work overtime during peak periods.
• Ability to safeguard confidential patient information and comply with HIPAA requirements.

• Production or metric-based work experience.
• In-person customer service experience.
• Experience building relationships with on-site clients and customers.
• Experience suggesting process improvements and providing feedback to internal stakeholders.
