Senior Director, HR Technology (AI)

Location: Pleasanton, United States; hybrid, with office attendance at least 3 days a week for candidates who live within a reasonable commute to a hirify.global office

Salary: $260,000–$325,000 per year, plus eligible short-term and long-term incentive programs and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead day-to-day operations, support, security, and continuous improvement for Workday and the broader HR technology ecosystem.
• Own post-go-live Workday stabilization, adoption, issue resolution, integrations, and optimization.
• Define and execute the HR AI strategy and roadmap, including business cases, value drivers, ROI, and investment priorities.
• Design, build, and deploy AI agents and automation across recruiting, onboarding, case management, benefits, and payroll support.
• Establish governance, security, privacy, access-control, identity, and vulnerability-management guardrails for HR systems and AI solutions.
• Lead HR IT managers and staff, manage vendors and SLAs, oversee the budget, and report technology and AI performance metrics to executives.

Requirements

• Proven leadership experience in HR Information Technology or HRIS operations, including Workday implementation or post-go-live stabilization.
• Hands-on Workday experience with HCM and ideally payroll, recruiting, or other modules, plus knowledge of Workday Integration Cloud, EIB, and Workday Studio.
• Experience building and deploying enterprise AI agents, automations, or AI-driven solutions; strong understanding of AI/ML, generative AI, and agentic AI.
• Technical proficiency with REST and SOAP APIs and agent-integration protocols such as Model Context Protocol (MCP).
• Experience developing technology or AI strategies, roadmaps, business cases, ROI models, vendor relationships, and build-versus-buy recommendations.
• Strong people-management, project-management, communication, compliance, data-privacy, security, and change-management skills, including experience leading offshore or distributed teams.
