Facilities Engineer (AI Infrastructure) (Data Center Operations): Operating and maintaining electrical, mechanical, cooling, HVAC, and building management systems for an AI compute data center with an accent on uptime, safety, and facility efficiency. Focus on troubleshooting critical infrastructure, coordinating maintenance and commissioning, supporting capacity planning, and responding to 24/7 operational issues.

Location: Remote - US; data center located in Snyder, Texas

Salary: $90,000–$110,000 annually plus bonus and Restricted Stock Units

What you will do

  • Operate, maintain, and optimize electrical distribution, UPS, PDUs, switchgear, generators, HVAC, cooling plants, and building management systems.
  • Lead preventive and corrective maintenance programs and resolve facility work orders.
  • Monitor facility health through DCIM and BMS platforms, investigate anomalies, and minimize downtime.
  • Support facility expansions, retrofits, equipment upgrades, vendor coordination, commissioning, and integrated systems testing.
  • Maintain technical documentation, including diagrams, equipment logs, maintenance records, and SOPs.
  • Support capacity planning, contractor coordination, emergency response, and a 24/7 on-call rotation while enforcing LOTO and electrical safety procedures.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in facilities engineering, data center operations, or critical infrastructure.
  • Hands-on knowledge of medium- and low-voltage electrical systems, UPS/PDU systems, backup generators, and automatic transfer switches.
  • Experience with CRAC/CRAH units, chilled water plants, cooling towers, precision air systems, and BMS/DCIM platforms.
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, OSHA, and applicable fire and life-safety regulations.
  • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and equipment documentation, with strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Availability for 24/7 critical-facility support through an on-call rotation.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, facilities management, or a related field.
  • Hyperscale or colocation data center experience and familiarity with Sunbird, Nlyte, or similar DCIM tools.
  • OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training.
  • Commissioning, integrated systems testing, and data center energy-efficiency experience, including PUE optimization and free cooling.
