Senior Software Engineer - Open Source (Golang)

Location: Remote, United States; travel expectations of 5–15%

What you will do

• Build, integrate, maintain, and release secure, interoperable cloud-native software and open source products.
• Collaborate with internal engineers, product managers, designers, users, industry partners, standards bodies, and community contributors.
• Own architecture decisions and technical quality across open source codebases, APIs, and contributor workflows.
• Identify and resolve ambiguity across product requirements, community needs, and upstream project constraints.
• Develop design proposals, contribution guides, user documentation, and maintenance guides.
• Mentor engineers, influence product direction, and contribute improvements to upstream open source projects.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Go and willingness to learn TypeScript; ability to contribute across modern languages such as Rust.
• Strong understanding of system design, software and library APIs, Kubernetes, and cloud architecture.
• Experience building or maintaining open source software, especially in cloud-native, software lifecycle, or software supply chain domains.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes controllers, operators, and custom resource definitions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

• Participation in CNCF, Apache Software Foundation, OpenSSF, or similar open source communities.
