What you will do

  • Deploy liquid-handling robotics and automated systems for laboratory capacity expansion.
  • Execute Stabilize, Standardize, and Optimize projects from intake through implementation and status tracking.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain liquid handlers, workcells, and analytical instruments while providing second-tier service support.
  • Support performance qualification, verification, and go-live activities for new or updated automated methods.
  • Draft SOPs and work instructions and maintain complete documentation under GDP and change-control practices.
  • Collaborate with Production, R&D, Quality, and vendors on medium-scale engineering projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in laboratory automation engineering, including hands-on troubleshooting and development.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic laboratory workflows, instrumentation, and software.
  • Proficiency with laboratory automation controlling and scheduling software; ability to learn supporting tools such as Python.
  • Strong attention to detail, protocol adherence, organization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel between local Austin sites, approximately one mile apart, to support multiple laboratories.

Nice to have

  • NGS or clinical laboratory experience, including extraction, library preparation, or sequencing workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with Tecan, Hamilton, Biomek, or Cellario liquid handlers.
  • Experience with production capacity-expansion deployments, LIMS, sequencing platforms, or workcell scheduling software such as Cellario or GBG.
  • Experience with verification, validation, and PQ activities for automated methods.
  • Working knowledge of 21 CFR Part 11, FDA, CLIA, CCR, and documented equivalency studies.
