Head of Legal (AI/Fintech)

Location: New York Office; hybrid

Company

Develops an Agentic Decision Platform that enables banks and insurance companies to automate and optimize financial decisions using AI agents, rules, context, and human oversight.

What you will do

• Set the roadmap for the legal function, building on existing templates, the Ironclad CLM rollout, and support from fractional US and EU GCs.
• Build and lead the legal team, determining hiring needs and an effective team structure.
• Draft, review, and negotiate customer, vendor, partnership, and NDA agreements, while improving contracting templates and playbooks.
• Advise on banking, lending, AI, model-risk, and fair-lending regulations related to the product and regulated customers.
• Support employment matters across US, German, UK, Romanian, and LATAM arrangements, using local counsel when needed.
• Advise the CEO and leadership team on legal risk, deal structure, new products, partnerships, markets, and data privacy.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant legal experience, including meaningful in-house experience.
• Experience building or significantly scaling a legal function and team.
• Strong commercial contract drafting and negotiation skills, including customer and vendor agreements.
• Knowledge of, or strong interest in developing expertise in, financial-services regulation related to AI-driven decisioning, credit, lending, model risk, and fair lending.
• Experience supporting employment matters across multiple jurisdictions or entities and managing outside counsel.
• JD and active bar membership in at least one US state required.

• Experience in AI, fintech, financial services, SaaS, or another regulated and high-growth environment.
• Experience working with or quickly learning additional jurisdictions.
