Operating Engineer

Location: Covington, Kentucky, USA; regular travel between properties and work in varying weather conditions may be required.

Salary: $28.61–$33.653846 per hour

What you will do

• Operate, maintain, inspect, and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, heating, cooling, and water systems in assigned commercial properties.
• Maintain chillers, DX units, boilers, pumps, cooling towers, fan coil units, VAV systems, compressors, refrigerant systems, and air distribution equipment.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, including filter changes, coil and condenser cleaning, bearing and belt maintenance, pulley and shaft alignment, and water-treatment checks.
• Monitor energy management systems and adjust mechanical, pneumatic, steam, electrical, and control equipment to maintain comfortable building conditions.
• Inspect emergency exits, generators, fire pumps, electrical rooms, and other life-safety systems; respond to fires, evacuations, equipment failures, and customer concerns.
• Document work, report activities to the supervisor, maintain safe and clean work areas, and comply with applicable codes and company safety procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• 5+ years of related experience operating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in a commercial property setting.
• Experience maintaining and repairing HVAC systems, boilers, heaters, pumps, refrigerant systems, compressors, and water systems.
• Relevant trade licenses or permits may be required, including electrician, refrigeration, boiler, or steam operator credentials; CFC Universal Technician certification may also be required depending on local licensing rules.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record, basic computer skills in Outlook, Excel, and Word, and knowledge of energy management systems.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, climb, stoop, crouch, work across floors and properties, and perform duties during extended, shift, or on-call periods.
