What you will do
- Develop, run, and maintain long-range resource planning models for three operating companies.
- Prepare quantitative analyses and forecasts covering energy production, emissions, capital budgets, generation costs, and market purchases.
- Implement Monte Carlo simulations to quantify uncertainty and total system cost variance across generation alternatives.
- Collaborate with Forecasting, Risk Management, Trading, fuel supply, and transmission operations groups to incorporate market, fuel, demand, and transmission constraints.
- Maintain accurate expansion and production cost models, including fuel costs, plant capabilities, operating costs, and contract terms.
- Research optimization techniques, emerging generation technologies, and federal and state policies affecting resource plans.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, finance, economics, operations research, mathematics, business, or a related quantitative field, depending on the level.
- Analyst I: two years of energy industry experience or equivalent experience with large optimization or forecasting models.
- Analyst II: five or more years of related work experience.
- Senior Analyst: at least eight years of utility experience, three years of expansion or production simulation modeling, and extensive knowledge of at least one larger utility.
- Experience with generation planning, system modeling, quantitative optimization, or related utility analysis.
Nice to have
- Graduate work in finance, economics, operations research, or decision analysis.
- Experience with EnCompass, PLEXOS, Aurora, EGEAS, or equivalent capacity expansion modeling tools.
