Principal AI Engineer, Aerospace & Defense

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; hybrid work opportunities are available.

What you will do

• Define and deliver a next-generation mobile experience for aviation maintenance, including operation in constrained-connectivity environments.
• Design and ship production AI capabilities using model integration, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic architectures, evaluation, and MLOps.
• Use AI-assisted development and agentic tooling to improve engineering speed and quality.
• Deploy, integrate, and harden solutions in Aerospace & Defense customer environments, connecting hirify.global with ERP, CRM, IoT, telemetry, legacy, and mission systems.
• Own design, development, testing, CI/CD, deployment, security, and operational reliability across cloud, edge, and mobile environments.
• Set technical strategy across product groups, make architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and represent hirify.global with customers and partners.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience building products with AI-assisted and agentic development tools and shipping production AI systems.
• Experience with prompt engineering, RAG, agentic architectures, evaluation and testing, and MLOps.
• Proven experience building and shipping production mobile applications; native iOS experience is strongly preferred.
• Principal-level impact as a recognised technical authority driving strategy and delivery across multiple teams or product groups.
• Experience deploying and operating enterprise software in customer environments, including ERP, CRM, IoT, and legacy-system integrations.
• Strong full-lifecycle engineering, cloud, DevOps, security, communication, and technical leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Aerospace & Defense, asset management, maintenance, MRO, or fleet-readiness solutions.
• Experience with enterprise asset management, field service, or maintenance-management solutions.
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with agile delivery and globally distributed teams.
