TL;DR

Private Cloud Lead (Cloud Infrastructure): Leading and growing an engineering chapter while shaping ING's Private Cloud platform, including provisioning, automation, networking, database services, container platforms, and observability, with an accent on people leadership and engineering excellence. Focus on developing 5–15 engineers, building platform capabilities for thousands of engineers, and contributing to strategic transformation and hands-on infrastructure initiatives.

Location: Madrid, Spain; hybrid work with days at home and at the ING MAD office

What you will do

Lead, coach, and develop an engineering chapter of 5–15 engineers as the Madrid team grows.
Build an inclusive, engaging, and high-performing engineering environment.
Drive capability building, knowledge sharing, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement.
Partner with Product Managers and other Chapter Leads to align skills and talent with business objectives.
Support recruitment, onboarding, succession planning, and talent development.
Contribute to strategic initiatives, transformation efforts, and hands-on engineering work across the Private Cloud platform.

Requirements

Technical education, preferably in Information Technology.
10+ years of technical experience in IT infrastructure.
High-level English proficiency at C1 is required.
Experience working in a large corporate IT infrastructure department.
Strong communication, coaching, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.
Hands-on experience with database products such as Oracle, Cassandra, or Postgres is valuable for supporting technical decisions.

Nice to have

Several years of demonstrable experience as a lead, lead engineer, project leader, or hierarchical lead.
Strong understanding of Agile-Scrum methodology.
