Director, Software Engineering - Conferences Technology (.NET)

Location: Barcelona, Spain; hybrid work environment. A valid EU visa or passport is required. The role includes travel for up to 30 days per year to provide technical leadership and on-site support at 4–5 hirify.global conferences.

What you will do

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of attendee-facing mobile and web platforms, including architecture, roadmap prioritization, releases, and quality assurance.
• Align platform strategy with business goals and translate scalability, personalization, analytics, and mobile-first capabilities into measurable outcomes.
• Build and empower engineering teams by recruiting, coaching, developing managers and individual contributors, and distributing leadership.
• Define product ownership boundaries, autonomous team structures, decision rights, and escalation paths.
• Coordinate with product, program, event operations, marketing, data, and business stakeholders.
• Communicate technical strategy and progress to senior leadership while supporting major hirify.global conferences on site.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 4–5 years in engineering leadership.
• At least 3 years leading teams of 15+ engineers or managing large-scale product delivery.
• Experience with high-scale or mission-critical external-facing mobile and web platforms where reliability, performance, and scalability affect business outcomes.
• Strong experience with .NET, Python, or Java and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Proven ability to deliver products on fixed timelines with cross-functional dependencies.
• Excellent communication, executive presence, stakeholder management, scalable system architecture, and modern development practices.
