Senior Systems Engineer (PNT)

Location: Fareham, United Kingdom; onsite at the Fareham offices. The role requires UK or Swedish citizenship because of access to classified military materials.

What you will do

• Lead the architectural design of PNT solutions integrating GNSS, inertial navigation, and alternative navigation technologies.
• Architect distributed sensing networks, including data collection, synchronization, fusion, and edge processing across remote nodes.
• Define system requirements, interface control documents, performance specifications, and trade studies covering system performance, size, weight, power, and cost.
• Develop resilient PNT and high-precision timing strategies using protocols such as PTP/IEEE 1588, NTP, and White Rabbit.
• Plan and execute verification, validation, hardware-in-the-loop, and software-in-the-loop test campaigns, analysing telemetry and test data.
• Act as the PNT and distributed sensing subject-matter expert, leading innovation, competence development, technical roadmaps, and mentorship across engineering teams.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in a related field.
• Five to ten years of industrial experience in radar, communications, or electronic warfare systems, including at least seven years in systems engineering focused on PNT and/or distributed sensor systems.
• Experience with GNSS, inertial navigation, Kalman filtering, sensor fusion, distributed aperture systems, sensor networks, or MIMO radar architectures.
• Proficiency with MATLAB and Simulink for modelling and simulation.
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering, requirements management tools, and the principles of ISO 15288:2023.
• UK or Swedish citizenship is required; employment involves classified military materials and security screening.

Nice to have

• RF front-end design, antenna theory, and signal propagation knowledge.
• Proficiency in C++, Python, or Rust for algorithm prototyping.
• Experience with encrypted PNT signals or secure timing distribution.
