EHS Specialist (Chemical Manufacturing)

Location: Morganton, North Carolina, United States; onsite at the Morganton facility. The role includes 10% domestic travel. Relocation packages are available for qualified candidates.

What you will do

• Lead and oversee site health, safety, and environmental programs to support a compliant and incident-free workplace.
• Assess facility operations and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Identify hazards in chemical processes and develop risk-mitigation strategies.
• Manage hazardous chemical handling, storage, and disposal in partnership with the environmental center of excellence.
• Conduct safety audits, inspections, sampling, permitting activities, and incident investigations.
• Provide field support, coaching, contractor safety oversight, emergency response coordination, and employee training.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of health and safety regulations.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively across organizational levels.
• Ability to lead and influence project teams and make challenging decisions.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Successful completion of a drug test and background investigation, with potential periodic checks under CFATS or other applicable regulations.

Nice to have

• Industrial chemical industry experience.
