FDIR Engineer (Aerospace): Developing fault detection, isolation, and recovery concepts, architectures, and implementation strategies for spacecraft missions with an accent on failure analysis, autonomous recovery, and mission reliability. Focus on deriving FDIR requirements, designing verification and validation activities, and supporting system integration, qualification, commissioning, and in-orbit anomaly investigations.

What you will do

  • Define, develop, and maintain spacecraft FDIR concepts, architectures, and implementation strategies.
  • Derive, allocate, and manage FDIR requirements across spacecraft segments, subsystems, hardware, and software.
  • Analyse failure scenarios, fault propagation paths, detection mechanisms, and recovery strategies.
  • Provide FDIR input to RAMS, safety, spacecraft, avionics, and software architecture activities.
  • Plan, execute, and report FDIR verification and validation, including system integration and qualification campaigns.
  • Support technical reviews, mission preparation, commissioning, LEOP, and in-orbit anomaly investigations.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of experience in spacecraft systems engineering, including several years in FDIR design, development, and verification.
  • Experience in satellite engineering domains such as operations, software, or AOCS/GNC.
  • University degree or equivalent education with relevant proven industry experience.
  • Strong responsibility, structured hands-on working approach, autonomy, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Nice to have

  • MSc or PhD in aerospace, engineering, mechatronics, physics, or a related field.
  • Willingness to collaborate across responsibilities and work effectively in geographically distributed teams.
  • Agility, flexibility, and strong communication skills.
