TL;DR
IT & Systems Manager (IT infrastructure and security operations): Building a strategic, governed IT function across collaboration platforms, endpoint management, identity, office infrastructure, SaaS tooling, and security controls with an accent on hands-on estate ownership, lifecycle governance, and operational resilience. Focus on designing auditable joiner–mover–leaver processes, securing mixed device fleets, managing networks and vendors, and removing single points of failure while mentoring an IT apprentice.
Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid with a minimum of three days per week on-site, weighted more heavily during the first six months.

What you will do
- Own and administer the collaboration and endpoint estate, including Google Workspace, Slack, MDM, endpoint protection, and mixed-device fleet management.
- Manage identity, access, SSO, and auditable joiner–mover–leaver processes, including provisioning, deprovisioning, and access reviews.
- Own the office LAN, Wi-Fi, connectivity, firewalls, meeting-room equipment, peripherals, and discrete physical infrastructure projects.
- Govern the SaaS and tooling estate, manage vendors and agency contracts, and bring shadow IT into the established register and governance process.
- Execute security operations under the fractional vCISO's direction, including patching, MFA, endpoint hardening, incident first response, Cyber Essentials Plus maintenance, and ISO 27001 groundwork.
- Line-manage and mentor the IT apprentice while directing the co-managed MSP and maturing the IT function.
Requirements
- Hands-on administration of Google Workspace and Slack at estate scale.
- Experience with MDM, endpoint protection, identity and access management, SSO, and joiner–mover–leaver automation.
- Strong networking fundamentals covering office LAN, Wi-Fi, firewalls, and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Security-operations literacy, including access reviews and work within frameworks such as Cyber Essentials or ISO 27001.
- Experience with SaaS lifecycle, vendor and contract management, and disciplined IT documentation.
- Ability to work on-site in London at least three days per week and provide in-person apprentice mentoring.

- Deeper security experience through formal qualification or hands-on work.
- AI awareness for assessing access and connector requests.
- Lightweight scripting or automation experience.
- Experience building or maturing an IT function from a reactive starting point.
- Exposure to regulated or audited environments such as government, NHS, education, or banking.
