Costs Draftsperson (Personal Injury)

Location: Bristol, hybrid; applicants may be based at hirify.global branch locations across the UK.

Salary: £44,364–£47,693 per year, plus a £4,000 car allowance.

What you will do

• Manage a caseload of high-value and high-profile costs matters, including serious injury, asbestos, clinical negligence, and other multi-track personal injury claims.
• Prepare Costs Budgets, Statements of Costs for Summary Assessment, estimates, and formal Bills of Costs.
• Negotiate costs budgets and bills of costs and settle claims on the best possible terms.
• Attend Costs Case Management Conferences, Detailed Assessment hearings, and application hearings.
• Work with PI lawyers as part of the legal team and liaise with Junior and Leading Counsel on complex technical costs matters.
• Support colleagues through day-to-day coaching and technical guidance as a Supervision Buddy.

Requirements

• Significant experience as a Law Costs professional, ideally across high-value multi-track personal injury matters.
• Qualified Costs Lawyer preferred; applications are also welcomed from Chartered Legal Executives and Solicitors.
• Good understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules.
• Strong written and verbal communication, persuasive advocacy, negotiation, and professional telephone skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, file management, organisation, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Comfort using standard IT packages including Outlook and Word; Costs Master experience is beneficial.
